ESP-WROOM-32 Achieves Product Certification in Six Major Markets
Feb 27, 2017
Great news for our ESP-WROOM-32 module! It has now passed all performance and quality assurance tests in six global markets. The European Union’s CE, the United States’ FCC, Canada’s IC, South Korea’s KC, Taiwan’s NCC, and China’s SRRC have approved of ESP-WROOM-32’s quality standards, which significantly increases our module’s marketability on an international scale. This comes on top of the Wi-Fi Alliance certification that ESP-WROOM-32 has already been awarded for conforming to this global organization’s interoperability standards. The latest certificate we earned from Wi-Fi Alliance was in January 2017 for the ESP32 Lyra Speaker, in the digital audio category.
ESP-WROOM-32 is a powerful MCU module which integrates Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). It is suitable for a wide variety of applications, ranging from low-power sensor networks to voice encoding, music streaming and MP3 decoding. At the core of this module is the ESP32 chip, which is designed to be scalable and adaptive. ESP-WROOM-32 has a multi-core processor with two independently-controlled processing units. The clock frequency is adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz, while the operating system is freeRTOS. A built-in cryptographic protocol which ensures communication security is also provided (TLS 1.2). Likewise, encrypted over-the-air (OTA) upgrade is supported, so that developers can constantly upgrade their products even after these have been released.
ESP-WROOM-32’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi conformity marking from six international markets, which span more than 30 countries, opens for our module the door to global trading. This hallmark is yet another step towards the realization of our vision: supporting the Internet-of-Things revolution in a way that promotes green, low-power wireless technology.
