Espressif’s ESP-WROOM-02 to be used by Baidu’s new ABC-STACK platform.

ESP-WROOM-02 is a low-power 32-bit MCU Wi-Fi module based on the ESP8266 chip. TCP/IP network stacks, 10-bit ADC, and HSPI/UART/PWM/I2C/I2S interfaces are all embedded in this module. ESP-WROOM-02 can be easily integrated into space-limited devices, due to its small size of only 18mm x 20mm.

The ESP8266 module can operate in a low-power mode. For instance, if it operates in DTIM10, it only consumes 1.2 mW, while maintaining a Wi-Fi connection. The module also integrates an SPI flash of 16 Mbits, used for storing user programs, data and firmware.

ESP-WROOM-02 has just been certified by Baidu, and it will be used on the Chinese high-tech giant’s IoT Cloud Platform, which will combine artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing. The platform is called ABC – STACK, which is essentially a hybrid cloud platform that provides enterprise customers with powerful and flexible solutions, so that they can integrate and deploy artificial intelligence (AI) effectively into their businesses. These solutions range from ready-to-use software to customized AI model development and training.

“The ABC – STACK is the embodiment of Baidu’s ABC strategy integrating our AI, Big Data and Cloud Computing capabilities,” said Ya-Qin Zhang, president of Baidu, at the Baidu Cloud Summit in Beijing last month. Mr Zhang also added: “Cloud computing has entered the 2.0 era, and we are providing enterprises with competitive capabilities to leverage big data and AI analytics.”

“In addition to helping customers reduce cost and boost efficiency, which you can achieve with traditional cloud offerings, the ABC intelligent cloud makes a more profound impact by creating new business models,” said Mr Zhang.

Mr Gao Shan, Espressif Systems’ sales manager represented our company at Baidu’s ABC summit in Beijing on September 15th, receiving the official certification of ESP-WROOM-02 in person.
